R3 Site Furnishings Teams With West Michigan Whitecaps
West Michigan Whitecaps
Waste receptacle manufacturer R3 Site Furnishings recently teamed up with the West Michigan Whitecaps, a minor league baseball team affiliated with the Detroit Tigers. Located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the Whitecaps play at Fifth Third Ballpark. The park hosts 70 Whitecaps home games, as well as college and high school athletic events, concerts, festivals and corporate meetings.
The Objective
Waste receptacles that encourage stadium visitors to recycle more and reduce waste
Fifth Third Ballpark welcomes over a half million people each year, and provides a wide assortment of food and beverage options in recyclable containers. This results in multiple waste streams and the daunting task of delivering eco-friendly brand messaging about recycling to a large, diverse group of stadium visitors.
An internal study revealed that Whitecaps patrons were only recycling about 19% of all waste. The Whitecaps felt it was important to educate stadium visitors on the variety of items they could recycle. They also wanted to reduce improper disposal of recyclables. And they needed to offer more waste bins made from recycled materials throughout the ballpark. In order to do this, they needed a waste receptacle manufacturer that could customize their recycling containers to meet their needs.
The R3 Solution
WASTE RECEPTACLES manufactured with customizable header boards
Waste receptacle manufacturers can’t always customize their offerings, but Arete’s R3 Site Furnishings brand specializes in custom branded design for a variety of markets, including stadiums and concert venues.
As part of the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes & Energy’s “Know It Before You Throw It” recycling campaign, we designed a series of waste and recycling receptacles with header boards that contain images of the types of items stadium guests can recycle.
The new branded recycled plastic waste receptacles also feature interchangeable signage frames that can be used to display sponsorship information for various events held at the ballpark.
The R3 Difference
WASTE RECEPTACLES MANUFACTURED WITH CUSTOM DESIGN that goes above and beyond
Manufacturing waste receptacles with customization in mind means R3 designers are constantly thinking outside the box. Providing visitors with convenient recycling images right on the recycling containers was the first step.
We also added interchangeable signage Fifth Third ballpark can use to display sponsor info. This added functionality helps the stadium maximize the value of their recycling containers. Choosing durable, weather-resistant waste bins made from recycled plastic, post-consumer products (primarily recycled milk jugs) also reinforces the Whitecaps’ brand messaging about going green and reducing waste.
